Jattanssi Dance Company

Dancer-choreographer Jattamarie Rauhaluoto founded Jattanssi Dance Company in the year 2000 after graduating from the Royal Swedish Ballet School and from the University College of Dance in Stockholm, Sweden. The aim is to support and improve the art of dance by organizing dance classes and performances. Jattanssi Dance Company arranges dance activities in Finnish, Swedish and English and produces every year new performances both for children and adults.

Jattanssi Dance Company’s repertoire includes e.g. solo dance performances, dance stories for children and multi-artistic productions. The number of dancers varies between different productions. The artistic director of the company is Jattamarie Rauhaluoto.

Jattamarie Rauhaluoto (born 1977) is a freelance dancer and choreographer from Turku. She often combines contemporary dance with the African dance movements in her works. Work across different art forms together with artists from different art fields is distinguishing for Rauhaluoto. In her productions dance is often combined with video projections and the performances take place outside the conventional stages.

Dance productions by Rauhaluoto have been performed at international festivals such as Monaco Dance Forum, Il Coreografo Elettronico (Italy), International Festival of Modern Choreography (Belarussia) and Festival of Contemporary Art (Turkey). Rauhaluoto has spent a lot of time abroad, e.g. at the Finnish-African Cultural Centre Villa Karo (Benin) and at Circolo Scandinavo in Rome.
